Aerospace Products

Aerostar is the World leader in the
design and fabrication of high altitude
 scientific balloons and high altitude
airships for near space applications.

Scientific balloons and high altitude
airships are used for near space
applications requiring altitudes higher
than aircraft can fly and
lower than a satellites orbit.

Our Aerospace Products are built to
exacting standards for customers such
as NASA, the U.S. Air Force, and JPL.

Aerostar and parent company Raven
Industries have a long history involving
the near space applications.  We
have partnerships with the foremost
scientific research facilities and have
the expertise allowing us to
manufacture applications which work.

Learn about our history, the science of
near space and our manufacturing
plant by visiting our Historical and
Scientific Information
page.

Until recently scientific balloons dominated the use of what has
become known today as
Near Space. There is currently an explosion of new technology under development which utilizes
the region of our atmosphere
from 50,000 feet upward.

Applications include being used for communications, data relay,
surveillance and intelligence.

Learn about some of our most
recent endeavors, including
our HiSentinel Stratospheric
Airship by visiting our
Near Space Applications page.

Our high altitude research balloons
can carry payloads from just a
few pounds to up 6000 pounds
and can reach altitudes up
to 45 kilometers.

Research institutions around the
World such as Japan's Institute for
Space and Astronautical Science,
NASDA in Japan, and the Italian
Space Agency also use our high altitude scientific balloons.

Ultra-long duration balloons can
stay aloft for up to 40 days,
retrieving valuable information
for researchers.  Please visit our
High Altitude Scientific Balloons
page for more information
and sizing charts.
