Aeroblimp 30
|
The
ultimate in outdoor advertising for
sporting events, concerts,
festivals and fairs.
Our top-of-the-line 30 foot outdoor
airship
is equipped with two giant 18' x 3.5'
interchangeable
banners
for maximum advertising effect.
Everything about the Aeroblimp 30 outdoor
airship has
been designed with safety in
mind.
With over ten years experience in the
manufacture and sale of radio
controlled
airships,
our systems are continuously
changing and
improving to meet this end. |
 |
|

|
Powered by twin 49cc gas powered engines,
the Aeroblimp 30
can operate in winds up
to 12 mph with full 360 degree vectoring
possible for complete reverse flight.
The fuel system is
totally separate
for each engine. If there is a problem with
one engine, there is no effect on the other.
The airship can be
flown on one engine in an emergency situation. |
|
The gondola is molded fiberglass. The
internal floor of the
gondola is Microlite-Ply
with two vector bearing mounts.
The
vector arm (movable arm which holds
and rotates the motors)
rotates 360
degrees
and is made of FAA-approved T-6
aircraft
aluminum, as are the motor mounts.
This facilitates infinite
hovering control
as well as enabling the airship to
reverse if
needed.
|
 |
|
 |
The rear fins are constructed of foam
core material with
plastic coating
on some surfaces.
This is proven to be extremely
durable
as well as quickly repairable in the field.
Motivating
the movable surfaces are
high torque servos in each fin and
activation connections are of very
high strength Kevlar. |
|
The servos in the rear fins are powered
by a separate battery
pack (one needed
to fly,
two included in the package)
and
controlled by a separate radio
receiverwith its own power
source
(one 4.8-volt pack to fly, two supplied).
This totally
isolates the rear
empennage electronically from the
gondola
providing a further safety factor.
|
 |
 |
With the individual systems separately
powered, there is no
possibility of a short
in any of the subsystems (fin servos,
tail rotor, vector servo) causing radio failure.
The fail-safe
capabilities of the radio enable
the
blimp to be completely shut
down in
caseof radio failure or interference.
This allows the
airship to slowly settle to
the ground due to its being flown
slightly
heavier than air.Additional options for the Aeroblimp
30
include a broadcast-quality video camera
system and a
tethering system for when
weather does
not permit free flight. |

Operational recommendations:
- FAA regulations do not become applicable unless flying
within three miles from the boundary of an airport or over
500 ft. of altitude
- It is not recommended that the outdoor airship be flown
in winds in excess of 10 - 12 mph (or less if turbulent or
gusty)
- Operational area recommended size for takeoff and
landing is 100 ft. x 100 ft. with minimum of 300 ft distance
from any large obstructions (i.e. power lines, radio tower,
large trees, etc)
- A large truck, hanger facility or protective area be
available for banner attachment, servicing (refueling and
battery changing) and protection for the blimp in case of
inclement weather
- It is not recommended to fly the Aeroblimp 30 be flown
in close proximity to power lines or directly overhead of
spectators
Flight characteristics:
- The Aeroblimp 30 can takeoff and land vertically in a
rather limited area and switch to forward flight capability
at any desired altitude
- In the forward flight mode, the airship is flown like a
fixed wing aircraft
- In the hover mode, the operation is similar to that of a
helicopter
- During slow forward flight or hover in wind, the
combination of these two techniques is used
Training and Flight Operations:
- Operation of the Aeroblimp 30 should be conducted only
by fully experienced R/C pilots with knowledge of glow
engines, NiCd batteries, radio transmitter, receiver, servo
operations and the airship's capabilities
- Two qualified pilots must be trained and certified in
writing by our RC staff at Airworks Enterprises in Jackson,
Mississippi, USA. The price of the Aeroblimp 30 includes two
days of training in Jackson. In the event another location
is selected by the customer, there will be an additional
charge set forth in the price quotation.
